The Civil Code of the Meritocratic Isles

Title I. Misdemeanor Offenses:

The following offenses are non-ejectionable crimes against the Meritocratic Isles:

1.a. Slander, defined as malicious, false, and defamatory spoken statements.

1.b. Libel, defined as malicious, false, and defamatory statements made through written or printed words, pictures, or by any means other than oral utterance.

1.c. Disturbance of the Peace, defined as disrupting, interrupting, hindering, or otherwise depriving individuals of the ability to carry out their business in a peaceful, orderly manner.

1.d. Harassment, defined as persistant personal attacks, deliberate irritation, or other forms of abuse perpetrated against another individual.

Title II. Felony Offenses:

The following offenses are crimes against the Meritocratic Isles that are punishable by ejection and bannishment:

2.a. Treason, defined as any action taken against the Meritocratic Isles with the intent of harming the Politeia or region as a whole.

2.b. Disclosure of classified information to unauthorized individuals or foreign entities.

2.c. Nondisclosure of foreign involvement.

Title III. Declaration of Rights:

All residents of the Meritocratic Isles are granted the following rights by the Politeia, the excercise of these rights being neither discouraged nor impaired in any way:

3.a. The right to freedom of speech, encompassing spoken or written statements, artwork, or any other means of expression. This clause does not extend to statements or other expressions in violation of Titles I or II of this document.

3.b. The right to freedom from discrimination on the basis of race, sex, religion, sexual orientation, or political opinion.

3.c. The right to form political parties or other non-governmental organizations.

3.d. The right to petition the regional government.

3.e. The right to a fair and speedy trial if accused of a crime.
