The entire NationStates world gasped in awe and excitement when in mid-April of 2007, the creation of NationStates2 was finally announced. The hype for this game has been lurking across forums, blogs, and message boards for years, and with this epic proclamation came a deluge of I-told-you-so’s. Some of the alleged features to NationStates2 are war, trade, customization, and much more. It is already clear that this sequel will feature much less role-playing and a lot more, well, playing.

The Meritocratic Isles is more excited than any region to immediately establish itself in NationStates2, or NS2, as soon as the actual game opens to the public. Our World Affairs Delegate, Valle de Mexico, has once again taken leadership and proposed the ValMex Doctrine as a basic blueprint to preparing to set up the Meritocratic Isles in NationStates2. It reads as follows:

1. We will move over to NS2 when it opens, and found, if possible, the region of the Meritocratic Isles again.
2. We should put our primary focus into recruiting and teaching nations the principles of this Meritocracy to prepare for the new game and to have a good bunch of players ready to tackle NS2.
3. Our secondary purpose should be that we should focus on stabilizing the current Politeia to be ready for NS2 as well.
4. We should not worry about foreign affairs for the mean time.
5. We should shape our nations how we want them to "transfer" them to NS2.

Debate in the Apella has been intense but as always has remained civil and with merit. Critics to the doctrine, such as Scandinavian Duchies along with Shasarazade, swiftly insisted that the fourth clause in the proposal should be in fact reversed so that setting up foreign affairs is a top priority. Their solid argument stated that having active foreign affairs to other regions keeps local nations interested, satisfied, and patriotic for their region.

A very vague reply to these suggestions by Valle de Mexico of “Alright.” implies either understanding or acceptance to the criticism. Jasque, the radioactive Founder of the Meritocratic Isles, came to the defense of the ValMex Doctrine by arguing that the second and third clauses were actually sufficient for the beginning of foreign policy.

At the moment, the ValMex Doctrine is still in the Apella and open to opinions and suggestions. The voting on the final copy of the doctrine will take place soon, so member nations should not hesitate to give their input on this historic milestone.

Nice job!  And well written!

You better keep this up.  I don't stop by often, so somebody needs to keep me up to date on what's going on in the Isles.  Tongue
