Consular Election Tied! Runoff Needed!
ACC and BDB forced to do battle once again

It seemed like destiny last night as the Consular election was tied between both candidates. At 19 Senatorial Votes each, this is means that they will have to go through the process of electing a new Consul all over again and it seems that this will be just as hard fought as the last election. Both Candidates seem confident for victory, as they try convince voters to change their votes, keep their votes and consider their votes. As all hold their breath for this next part of Electoral Fun, we must look to see what the candidates will be doing which is fresh to make sure that they can achieve their goal, to become Consul of the New Meritocracy.

In the other elections, Asflav without opposition retained his role as Quaestor, something that both Consuls would have wanted. It can be considered a draw therefore in the Executor battle, as both candidates got one seat a piece as X-G became Praetor is an extremely tight 13-14 finish, and OC become Censor after gaining a convincing victory over Seimpre.

Therefore both Consuls know that they are going to have to work with their opponents in Government and this is a further indication of how split the Senate is over the issue at hand.

With Electoral Tie Break legislation already been discussed in the Curia, this is a hot issue for the moment. An "Era of Good Feeling" seems to have broke out however, as both candidates represent similar view points on the issues at hand another factor in why this election has been a close call.

Whatever happens, InterMet will be the first to give you news as this occurs.

For new members of the Isles, The Meritocracy is our central government, and the Consul is its leader.

The last time there was such a close election the Meritocracy nearly had a civil war.  Thankfully the two current candidates are more willing to settle things legally.

(Beautiful background and stuff, btw).

King Justin and Lord Tom tied in the Consular election, and Justin tried to take the Senate by force (the "tanks of Eureka" outside the Senate Hall of legend). Compromise was reached, though, and Lord Curzon was given the position.
